The Klaserie Private Nature Reserve has for many years been referred to as a wild dog haven, with multiple den sites, by multiple different packs having been established within the reserve over the last decade and two of which were on Last Word Kitara property.
The Last Word Constantia is now open for end of year functions and events. Book the exclusive use of our garden, lounge, pool and dining room for your next celebration. From corporate year end functions to exciting kitchen teas, we’re the perfect spot for your celebration.
As of January 2020, the Timbila Pride has become the new dominant pride within the Northern Klaserie. Our recent sighting of them was this week after the pride had obviously just finished off a very large kill as their bellies were ginormous! The only two individuals that were missing was one of the older females along with her two 11 month old cubs. We assume the pride had brought down a young giraffe or potentially a buffalo the night before we found them.
This week our Fireside Chat series features Stefan Steenkamp, Head Guide/Manager at our beautiful safari camp, The Last Word Kitara. The scene for this week's catch-up is alongside a crackling fire or, 'bush TV', in the boma (read: outdoor dining venue). Few things compare to the experience of enjoying a hearty meal in good company, on a balmy evening beneath a clear, starry South African night sky.
As the rain starts to fall the flowers of the Klaserie Private Nature Reserve start to bloom, a welcome sight after the dry dust of winter.
Within the North of the Klaserie Private Nature Reserve the landscape becomes incredibly different to what is found in the South of the reserve.
The Last Word Long Beach has been voted as the #2 top hotel in Cape Town by the discerning Condé Nast Traveler Readers' Choice Awards. Being recognised in this prestigious reader survey is a proud, humbling moment for us at The Last Word Intimate Hotels and Safari Camps.
This Spring, we are taking the opportunity to stop and smell the roses. Also, to spend some time with those that mean so much to us- our lovely people.
Spring in the fairest Cape is a magical time. We are privileged to call stunning South Africa home and, for us locals, there is no better time to explore this alluring part of our country.
