Perched along the banks of the Klaserie River, Last Word Kitara is the crown jewel of the Klaserie Private Nature Reserve, part of the Greater Kruger National Park. This intimate lodge blends timeless elegance with a sense of raw, natural wonder.
Each of our six river-facing suites offers uninterrupted views of the water and the wildlife that gathers there. Thoughtfully designed interiors pair contemporary comfort with natural materials, and each suite features both indoor and outdoor showers because nature is part of the experience here.
Days at Kitara unfold at an easy pace: morning and evening game drives in open safari vehicles, brunches by the river, and golden-hour sundowners beneath wide African skies.
When you return from your adventures, our team will have something fresh and delicious waiting for you because no safari is complete without great food and warm company.

Laundry
Place laundry in the bag provided, in your bathtub, with the completed slip. If left in the morning, it is usually returned the same day, subject to lodge capacity.

There is no room service, but you’ll never go hungry. From sunrise coffees and Amarula pancakes to high tea and candlelit dinners, every meal is a moment to savour.

Available on request for guests wanting a more immersive wilderness experience, subject to guide availability and safety conditions.
Helicopter Scenic Flights
Explore the Blyde River Canyon, waterfalls, and Panorama Route from above. Operated by Hope for Wildlife. Pre-booking is essential.

Best Time to Visit Kitara
The best time to visit Kitara is during the dry winter months, from May to September, for peak wildlife viewing. Animals gather at waterholes and the bush is less dense, making sightings easier, especially of predators.
Summer, from October to April, offers lush green landscapes, newborn animals, and abundant birdlife, making it ideal for photographers and birders despite the heat and rain.
